What Pests Does Gentrol® IGR Control?
Gentrol IGR is labeled for use against a wide range of pests, including:
- Cockroaches (German, American, Oriental, brown-banded)
- Fleas
- Stored product pests (pantry moths, beetles)
- Cigarette beetles
- Confused flour beetles
- Other listed crawling insects
Gentrol is especially effective where reproduction and resistance are major problems.
How Gentrol® IGR Concentrate Works
After application, Gentrol creates a growth-disrupting zone in treated areas:
- Immature insects contact treated surfaces
- Normal molting and development are disrupted
- Deformed or sterile adults emerge
- The population collapses over time
Because Gentrol targets growth—not the nervous system—resistance is extremely rare.
How Long Does Gentrol® IGR Take to Work?
Gentrol IGR does not provide instant knockdown, and that’s by design.
- Visible changes (deformed wings, twisted bodies) may appear within 1–2 weeks
- Reproductive shutdown occurs over 30–90 days
- Complete population control develops as existing adults die naturally and no new adults replace them
Gentrol is about permanent control, not short-term kill.
How Long Does Gentrol® IGR Last?
When applied to undisturbed indoor areas, Gentrol IGR can remain effective for up to 4 months, providing extended population suppression long after contact insecticides wear off.
This long residual makes Gentrol ideal for:
- Apartments
- Multi-unit housing
- Commercial kitchens
- Long-term roach and flea programs
Where to Apply Gentrol® IGR Concentrate
Gentrol is commonly applied to:
- Cracks and crevices
- Baseboards
- Under and behind appliances
- Wall void access points
- Storage rooms and pantries
- Harborage areas
It can be applied alone or tank-mixed with non-repellent insecticides for maximum effectiveness.

Mixing Instructions:
Spray Mixing:
Mix Gentrol with diluent and apply with spray or hand application equipment, such as hand-pressurized or power-operated sprayers capable of delivering general surface spray, fogging (space spray/mist), spot, crack and crevice spray applications, or with a paint brush, roller, or similar device.
Use 1 ounce of Gentrol to 1 gallon of diluent. Partially fill the mixing container with diluent, add the Gentrol, shake or stir, and fill to final volume. Use diluted solution within 48 hours of mixing. Shake or stir before each use.
Tank Mixes:
Gentrol may be tank mixed with an adulticide currently registered for use, unless the product label prohibits such use. Use the resulting tank mixture in accordance with the more restrictive label limitations and precautions.
Application Rates:
Apply the Gentrol dilution at a rate of 1 gallon per 1500 sq ft of surface area. Use spray/application equipment capable of delivering a variable spray or coating to uniformly apply the solution. Apply to areas such as walls, floors, ceilings, attics, basements, or crawlspaces. NOTE: Prior to treating around air ducts, shut off ventilation system. Allow treatment to dry prior to turning on ventilation system.
