Q How long does TakeDown Soft Bait take to work? answer now
    Asked on December 18, 2025 1:03 PM
A TakeDown Soft Bait begins working after rodents consume a lethal amount of bait, with results typically becoming noticeable within 1–3 days. Most users see a reduction in rodent activity, feeding, and sightings within 3–5 days, while complete control of active rodents generally occurs within 5–7 days, depending on consumption levels and bait placement. TakeDown Soft Bait contains bromethalin, a fast-acting non-anticoagulant rodenticide that stops feeding quickly after ingestion. Because of its delayed onset, rodents do not associate the bait with illness, which helps prevent bait shyness and increases overall effectiveness. Affected rodents usually retreat to hidden areas, so visible carcasses are uncommon. Success is measured by declining bait consumption and reduced rodent signs, not by finding dead rodents. For best results, place TakeDown Soft Bait in secured bait stations along active runways, wall edges, and nesting areas, and maintain bait availability until rodent activity stops.

Q What is the correct application rate for TakeDown Soft Bait Rodenticide? answer now
    Asked on August 20, 2025 8:47 PM
A The application rate for TakeDown® Soft Bait depends on whether you are treating rats or mice: For Rats (Norway rats, roof rats): Place 2 to 8 sachets (1.76 oz. each) every 15 to 30 feet along active runways, near burrows, or inside tamper-resistant bait stations. For Mice (house mice, deer mice): Place 1 sachet every 8 to 12 feet in areas of activity. Increase placements in heavy infestations. Application Guidelines: Always place bait inside tamper-resistant bait stations when used around homes, pets, or livestock. Inspect bait placements every 2–4 days for mice and 5–7 days for rats, replacing any consumed or contaminated bait until activity stops. Continue monitoring weekly to prevent reinfestation. 👉 TakeDown Soft Bait is ready-to-use—no mixing required. Its highly palatable formulation makes it ideal for controlling rodents even in environments with competing food sources.

Are you looking for a bait to take down the heaviest rodent infestations? TakeDown Soft Bait has got what you need. TakeDown is the first specially formulated rodenticide made with Bromethalin (0.01%), which is an acute, non-anticoagulant neurotoxin. The fast-acting, powerful formula, combined with the palatability of the soft bait, is designed to tackle even the toughest rodent problems. Lethal doses can be consumed in one night’s feeding with results being seen a couple days later. Each lethal dose has a package design that allows the aroma of the bait to escape, which is highly attractive to Norway rats, Roof rats, House mice and a number of other rodents including those that have proven to be anticoagulant resistant. The wax-free formula will not melt and maintains its palatability and integrity in hot environments.

Description

Product Alternatives: Fastrac All-Weather Blox
EPA Registration No.: 7173-304
Active Ingredient: Bromethalin – .0.01%
General Instructions:

Bait stations are mandatory for outdoor, above-ground use. Tamper-resistant bait stations must be used wherever children, pets, non-target mammals, or birds may have access to the bait placement location.

Selection of Treatment Areas:

Determine areas where rats and/or house mice will most likely find and consume bait. Generally, these are along walls, by gnawed openings, in corners and concealed places, between floors or walls, beside burrows, or in locations where rats and/or house mice or their signs have been observed. Remove as much alternative food as possible.

Application Directions:

Rats:

Apply 4 to 24 pouches per placement, usually spaced 15 to 30 feet apart.  Adjust the amount of bait applied to the level of rat feeding expected at each bait placement.

House Mice:

Apply 1 to 2 pouches per placement, usually spaced 8 to 12 feet apart. Up to 4 pouches may be needed at points of very high house mouse activity.

Replace contaminated or spoiled bait immediately. Wearing gloves, collect and dispose of all dead, exposed animals and leftover bait. To prevent reinfestation, limit sources of rodent food, water, and harborage as much as possible. If reinfestation does occur, repeat treatment. Where a continuous source of infestation is present, establish permanent bait stations and replenish as needed.

Baiting Strategy:

Highest bait consumption is expected to occur on the first day or two after treatment begins. After several days, inspect placement and replenish bait at sites where there is evidence of heavy feeding or where there is continued evidence of rodent activity. Normally, the volume of bait consumed will be significantly less with bromethalin baits than the anticoagulant
baits. Although one night’s feeding will usually provide a lethal dose, maintain bait for at least one week to provide all rodents a chance to feed on the bait. Continue baiting until all signs of feeding have ceased.

Follow-up:

Replace contaminated or spoiled bait immediately. Wearing waterproof gloves, collect and dispose of all visible dead animals and leftover bait, as well as any bait that has become
accessible to non-target animals. To discourage reinfestation, limit sources of rodent food, water and harborage as much as possible. If reinfestation does occur, repeat treatment. For a continuous infestation, set up permanent bait stations and replenish bait as needed.
